I can confirm that the Department is in receipt of an application, under the Additional School Accommodation scheme, for the school referred to by the Deputy. The purpose of the Additional School Accommodation scheme is to ensure that essential mainstream and special education classroom accommodation is available to cater for pupils enrolled each year and where the need cannot be met by the school’s existing accommodation or by other schools in the area.

My Department are in discussions with the school authorities regarding their application, with the view of progressing the application to the next stage.

A major building project for the school referred to by the Deputy is being delivered as part of my Departments ADAPT Programme.

The major project is currently at an advanced stage of architectural planning Stage 2(b) - Detailed Design, where the Design Team secure all statutory applications and prepare the tender documents.

The Design Team submitted the Stage 2(b) report for the first phase of the major project, to my Department in late Quarter 4 2023, for review.

The Department's Professional and Technical Team will review it as quickly as possible having regard also to the many other projects they have to manage for progression through the Department's pipeline.

The modular accommodation referred to by the Deputy is intended to provide decant accommodation during the construction stage of both phases of the major project.

My Department is also in receipt of an application for Emergency Works to the current building and have requested additional information in order to assess the application..

Department officials will review all the information and will contact the school authorities shortly.
