As the Deputy will be aware, daa has the statutory responsibility for the operation, management and development of Dublin Airport.

daa obtained a grant of planning permission for the proposed tunnel from Fingal County Council on 27 February 2023. This decision was appealed to An Bord Pleanála, who made a final grant of permission, with conditions attached on 17 April 2024. The proposed project is included in Dublin Airport's Capital Investment Programme (2020+) which is funded directly by the airport through airport charges with no recourse to Exchequer funding.

I can confirm to the Deputy that no contacts have taken place with respect to the possible acquisition of land in County Wicklow for a future designated airport capable of passenger jet traffic nor has there been any engagement by the Department with any possible promoters of such a project.
