215. To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport if his attention has been drawn to delays in the issuing of new bus route licences by the National Transport Authority (details supplied); the actions he will take to ensure that there are no further delays in this process; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As Minister for Transport, I have responsibility for policy and overall funding in relation to public transport; however, I am not involved in the day-to-day operations of public transport. Under the Public Transport Regulation Act 2009, the National Transport Authority (NTA) is responsible for the licensing of public bus passenger services.
In light of the NTA’s responsibility in this area, I have forwarded the Deputy's question to the NTA for direct reply. Please advise my private office if you do not receive a response within ten working days.
