60. To ask the Minister for Housing, Planning, and Local Government to outline why defective concrete block homeowners in counties Donegal, Mayo, Clare and Limerick have been offered support through another limited grant scheme rather than an actual redress scheme similar to the pyrite remediation scheme. The approach taken under the Pyrite Remediation Scheme was considered in the development of the Defective Concrete Blocks (DCB) Grant Scheme. However, due to the different scale of both schemes and the flexibility sought by homeowners the DCB Grant scheme required a different approach.

The enhanced scheme, as legislated for by the Oireachtas, is now up and running and will see significant investment by the State in addressing defects in houses in Donegal and other affected counties.
