132. To ask the Taoiseach and Minister for Defence the total number of Freedom of Information requests submitted to his Department in 2022 and to date in 2023; the total number of such requests that were rejected in their entirety; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [51968/23]

The total number of Freedom of Information requests submitted to my Department in the years 2022 and 2023 to date and the total number of requests refused are set out in the table below:

No. of FOI requests submitted to my Department 131 146
No. of FOI requests refused in their entirety 40 48

Refusals were as a result of no records existing, or requests being invalid, pre-dating the legislation, or being subject to an exemption under the FOI Act.
