60. To ask the Minister for Education and Skills the position regarding the contractual situation for non-ETB tutors, teaching in private colleges, sports therapy and beauty training academies, and so on; if she has examined the possibility of a contract which would offer more security to tutors in such a situation, which may include supports during seasonal holidays, vacation pay cover and pension entitlements; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The recruitment and appointment of teachers to fill teaching posts is a matter for the individual school authority, subject to procedures agreed under Section 24 of the Education Act 1998 (as amended by the Education (Amendment) Act 2012).

As the Department of Education is not the employer of tutors in non-ETB private colleges the contractual situation for these tutors does not fall under the remit of the Department of Education.
