Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection
Disability Allowance Payments
294. To ask the Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection the waiting times from when an appeal of disability allowance is granted by the appeals office to when payment issues from the disability allowance section; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [51009/18]
My Department is committed to providing a quality service to all its customers. This includes ensuring that applications are processed and that decisions on entitlement are made as quickly as possible.
Where a customer’s appeal is successful, every effort is made to implement the decision of the Appeals Officer (AO) within 3 weeks of notice of the decision being received from the Social Welfare Appeals Office.
Currently, AO decisions are taking on average 4 weeks to implement. Staff are being assigned to this work to ensure that AO decisions are implemented within 3 weeks.
I hope this clarifies the matter for the Deputy.
