103. To ask the Minister for Justice and Equality the number of staff employed in her Department's archive unit in each of the years from 2010 to 2016 to date, in tabular form; her plans to expand this number; if protocol changes arise from changes to the National Archive Acts; and if she will make a statement on the matter. There are no staff employed by my Department to work exclusively on archiving files. Responsibility for archiving files lies with staff across all line divisions who carry out this function as required in addition to their normal duties.
The Deputy may wish to note that staff from the Information Access Unit of my Department engage with the National Archives in relation to the arrangements for the transfer of records which are over 30 years old. There have been no protocol changes in response to the proposed changes to the National Archives Act but this is kept under review.
