590. To ask the Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht the number of staff employed by Waterways Ireland in 2012 on the River Shannon from north Roscommon to Athlone; and the number of staff currently employed. [13477/16]

I am advised by Waterways Ireland that the number of staff employed by it on the North Shannon (Athlone to Lough Allen) in 2012 was 43. The number of staff currently employed in this region is 37.
