501. To ask the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade the amount spent by his Department on special advisers for each of the past four years; the way this compares to the four years 2007 to 2010; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2507/15]

Payments to special advisors are made in accordance with Department of Public Expenditure and Reform guidelines. The amount spent on special advisors in my Department from 2007-2014 is outlined in the table below:
