1278. To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport the reason the Taxi Regulator has imposed a limit of nine years, after the initial registration for holding a taxi vehicle licence, where a car may no longer be licensed as a taxi in view of the fact that every year a car licensed as a taxi must have a national car test and approval in order to maintain the licence; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The National Transport Authority (NTA) has responsibility for the regulation of the small public service vehicle (SPSV) industry, including SPSV licensing and vehicle standards, under the provisions of the Public Transport Regulation Act, 2009.

Your question has been forwarded to the NTA for direct reply. If you do not receive a response within ten working days please notify my private office.
