The Supreme Court of Ireland decided in the RvR (frozen embryos) case that the frozen embryos at issue in the case do not have the constitutional protection of Article 40.3.3 of the Irish Constitution. My Department is currently developing policy proposals to regulate the area of Assisted Human Reproduction with the intention of finalising them by the end of this year or early next year; and the work involved in developing these proposals will examine and consider â among other things â the issues arising from the frozen embryos Supreme Court judgment.
