Question 198: To ask the Minister for Education and Science the way the local contribution is calculated when school building projects are being assessed for their monetary contribution; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8497/10]

Under the general funding arrangements for school building projects, the amount of the local contribution for extensions or refurbishments is 10% of the total project cost with the contribution being capped at â¬31,500. The level of the local contribution for schools with disadvantaged status is 5% of the project cost subject to a maximum amount of â¬12,500. The local contribution for new school buildings is 5% of the cost up to a maximum contribution of â¬63,000 or â¬12,500 in the case of special or disadvantaged schools.
