The Department of Defence has no direct engagement in cross-border programmes, initiatives or areas of cooperation with its counterparts in Northern Ireland. However, from time to time, the Defence Forces may provide assistance to other Government Departments and agencies involved in cross border activities and areas of cooperation, including to An Garda SÃochána in their role of providing Aid to the Civil Power.
