The REPS planners in question are employed on temporary fixed-term contracts by Teagasc. The recently announced moratorium on public service recruitment prevents Teagasc from renewing such contracts. The budgetary impact of the non-renewal of contracts is an operational matter for Teagasc. My Department has allocated â¬132 million to Teagasc for non-capital purposes in 2009. Subject to the level of resources available to the organisation, it is a matter for the Teagasc authority to prioritise its activities and to manage its budget accordingly.
