The improvement and maintenance of regional and local roads, including bridges, in its area is a matter for Kerry County Council to be funded from its own resources supplemented by State grants. A road grant of €100,000 was allocated to Kerry County Council in 2008 for Ballinagar Bridge under the Specific Improvement Grant Scheme. It is open to Kerry County Council to continue to prioritise this scheme for funding, and to include it among its Specific Improvement Grant Scheme applications for funding in 2009. Regional and local road grants for 2009 will be allocated early in the new year.
