Larkwood Blueberry Farm is a subsidiary of Allenwood Enterprise Park. This project was funded by FÃS, under the Social Economy Programme on the basis that it would become commercially viable and self-sustaining. The Social Economy Programme transferred to my Department in 2006 and has been re-named the Community Services Programme, to reflect a change of emphasis towards the provision of community services. After 8 years of operation the blueberry farm at Allenwood had failed to become commercially viable and could no longer meet the eligibility criteria for funding under the Programme. By agreement with the project my Department's funding is transferring to the parent organisation, Allenwood Enterprise Park. Accordingly, the funding will continue to be used for the benefit of the Allenwood community.
