I have not had a meeting with the Gaelic Players Association (GPA). I have today received a request from Cumann Lúthchleas Gael to meet with them to discuss, inter alia, player grants. It has been indicated that the Chief Executive of the GAA would be in attendance at such a meeting. I will be responding to this request in due course. The GAA and the GPA submitted a joint proposal to my Department in April in relation to player welfare issues for inter-county players. The proposal did not take account of my Department's position which had been clearly set out on a number of occasions and the GAA has been requested to submit a proposal which would be in line with that position. I am prepared to consider any proposal from the GAA that would be satisfactory to both the GAA and the GPA and in line with Government policy.
