Question 159: To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of Garda cars, vans and motorbikes that are currently available to each station in the Dublin region; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14639/07]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the transport resources currently attached to stations in the Dublin Metropolitan Region, including the Dublin Metropolitan Region Traffic Division, are as set out in the following table. I would point out to the Deputy that in overall terms the Garda Fleet has never been more modern. The total spend for 2006 on the purchase of 1,378 new vehicles to upgrade the fleet was â¬27.45 million resulting in the renewal of over half of the entire Garda fleet in just a single year and further investment in new vehicles for the Garda will be made this year.
