Funding in excess of â¬1.7m. has been allocated to initiatives in support of volunteering by my Department for 2006. These allocations are, in the main, part of multi-annual commitments made to a range of volunteering related activities which I announced as part of a package of volunteering initiatives in March 2005.
The allocations for 2006 are as follows:

âEight volunteer bureaux, members of Volunteer Centres Ireland â â¬543,648
âFocus Ireland, to support their Community Service Volunteer Programme â â¬81,394
âThe Young Social Innovators Programme â â¬250,000
âThe Community Learning Programme of the Dublin Institute of Technology â â¬110,000
âBoardmatch â an initiative to strengthen the boards of management of voluntary and community organisations â â¬100,000
âto Carlow County Development Board to promote volunteering â â¬76,600 from the Cohesion Fund
âfor volunteering projects by Local Area Partnership Schemes under the Local Development Social Inclusion Programme (LDSIP) â â¬500,000.
