My Department's involvement with matters relating to the European Commission's initiative "Bringing eCall to Citizens" as set out in its second eSafety communication dated 14 September 2005, would be regarding requirements for motor vehicles in regard to their equipment and use and in relation to new entry into service requirements for new vehicles under EU type approval law. Legislative initiatives in these areas have yet to be formally proposed by the European Commission for consideration by the member states.
