Question 12: To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the steps she will take to remove outstanding obstacles to the provision of investment for the creation of much needed employment in the former Comerama factory in Castlecomer, County Kilkenny; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The sale of the Comerama facility in Castlecomer was a private matter and was the sole responsibility of the receiver appointed. There was a tender process but I had no involvement in that.
I understand, however, that a number of bids were received and certain obstacles were then encountered. As far as I am aware, these obstacles have now been resolved and a company will acquire the former Comerama building and create employment in Castlecomer starting in June. I very much welcome this badly needed boost for Castlecomer and the surrounding area.
