As the Deputy may be aware, the report of the national advisory committee on palliative care was launched in October 2001. One of the recommendations of the report is the establishment of a national council on palliative care services. The council would offer advice on the ongoing development and implementation of national policy on palliative care services in Ireland, having regard to the report of the national advisory committee on palliative care. I wish to advise the Deputy that the establishment of the national council is being examined in the context of the restructuring of the health system.

The provision of hospital services at Cork University Hospital is, in the first instance, a matter for the Southern Health Board. My Department has, therefore, asked the chief executive officer of the Southern Health Board to investigate the matter and reply directly to the Deputy.

Question 401: To ask the Minister for Health and Children if a warfarin clinic would be set up at Celbridge health centre in view of the fact that currently the local population in Kildare must attend at Blanchardstown Hospital for same; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9940/04]

Responsibility for the provision of a warfarin clinic at Celbridge health centre rests with the Eastern Regional Health Authority. My Department has asked the chief executive officer to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and to reply to him directly.
