Question 207: To ask the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government the progress made to date in regard to his consideration of the report of the health research board study commissioned by his Department into the likely effects of landfill and thermal treatment; the specific steps he intends to take to deal with the finding in the report that Ireland had insufficient resources to carry out adequate risk assessments for proposed waste management facilities; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I refer to the reply to Question No. 62 of 26 November 2003. The discussions referred to in that reply are ongoing. I envisage that they will be concluded shortly. I will make a more detailed statement on the matter as soon as possible thereafter.
