An Cathaoirleach: I have received notice from Senator Browne that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment to explain the progress that is being made to secure replacement jobs in the Carlow area.

I have also received notice from Senator Feighan of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health and Children to clarify why Áras Mháthair Pól, Castlerea, Áras Chaolainn, Castlerea, and Plunkett Home, Boyle, are without physiotherapy services for in-patients and out-patients, and to reinstate these valuable services immediately.

I have also received notice from Senator Morrissey of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Transport to give an update on the licensing of private bus operators and to list restrictions being placed upon them such as those being imposed on Mortons' route from Celbridge to Dublin.

I have also received notice from Senator McHugh of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources to give an update on the foreshore licence application towards dredging on the River Swilly and whether funding will be made available to cover the dredging costs which will facilitate the new ferry service between Buncrana and Rathmullan and also to facilitate a new RNLI boat in 2004.

I have also received notice from Senator Brian Hayes of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Finance to explain why his Department has, to date, failed to reply to an invitation by the Labour Relations Commission to explain why, from October 2002, it took a decision to reduce the starting salary scale for secretarial assistants working with Members of the Oireachtas; to ask that an early decision will be taken to immediately review the starting salary in question and that the matter be discussed.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected the matters raised by Senators Browne, Feighan and Morrissey and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senators McHugh and Brian Hayes may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
