Sitting Arrangements: Motion

I move:

That, notwithstanding anything in the Standing Orders relative to Public Business, unless otherwise ordered, the following arrangements shall apply in relation to the sittings of the Seanad on 11th, 12th and 13th July, 2022:

(1) The Seanad shall meet at 10 a.m. on Monday, 11th July, 2022, and the following arrangements shall apply: (a) Standing Orders 29 and 30 shall stand suspended;

(b) there shall be no Order of Business;

(c ) the business to be taken shall be confined to the items set out in the Schedule to this paragraph and, accordingly, no other business shall be taken unless the Seanad shall otherwise order on motion made by the Leader of the House or such other Senator as she may authorise in that behalf.

Education (Provision In Respect of Children with Special Educational Needs) Bill 2022 [Dáil] - Second Stage.

The proceedings on Second Stage of the Education (Provision In Respect of Children with Special Educational Needs) Bill 2022 [Dáil], shall be taken at 10 a.m. and shall, if not previously concluded, be brought to a conclusion at 11 a.m. The opening contribution of the Minister at the debate on Second Stage shall not exceed 8 minutes, the contribution of Group Spokespersons shall not exceed 6 minutes, all other Senators shall not exceed 3 minutes, and the Minister shall be given no less than 5 minutes to reply to the debate.

Remediation of Dwellings Damaged by the Use of Defective Concrete Blocks Bill 2022 [Dáil]–Second Stage.

The proceedings on Second Stage of the Remediation of Dwellings Damaged by the Use of Defective Concrete Blocks Bill 2022 [Dáil], shall be taken at 11 a.m., or on the conclusion of the proceedings on the Second Stage of the Education (Provision In Respect of Children with Special Educational Needs) Bill 2022 [Dáil], whichever is the later, and shall, if not previously concluded, be brought to a conclusion at 12.45 p.m. The opening contribution of the Minister at the debate on Second Stage shall not exceed 10 minutes, the contribution of Group Spokespersons shall not exceed 8 minutes, all other Senators shall not exceed 5 minutes, and the Minister shall be given no less than 10 minutes to reply to the debate.

Suspension of Sitting.

On the conclusion of the proceedings on the Remediation of Dwellings Damaged by the Use of Defective Concrete Blocks Bill 2022 [Dáil], the sitting shall be suspended until 1.30 p.m.

Civil Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill 2022 [Dáil] - Second Stage.

The proceedings on Second Stage of the Civil Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill 2022 [Dáil], shall be taken on the resumption of the sitting and shall, if not previously concluded, be brought to a conclusion at 2.45 p.m. The opening contribution of the Minister at the debate on Second Stage shall not exceed 8 minutes, the contribution of Group Spokespersons shall not exceed 6 minutes, all other Senators shall not exceed 5 minutes, and the Minister shall be given no less than 5 minutes to reply to the debate.

Communications (Retention of Data) (Amendment) Bill 2022 [Dáil] - Second Stage.

The proceedings on Second Stage of the Communications (Retention of Data) (Amendment) Bill 2022 [Dáil], shall be taken on the conclusion of the proceedings on the Civil Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill 2022 [Dáil],and shall, if not previously concluded, be brought to a conclusion after 75 minutes. The opening contribution of the Minister at the debate on Second Stage shall not exceed 8 minutes, the contribution of Group Spokespersons shall not exceed 6 minutes, all other Senators shall not exceed 3 minutes, and the Minister shall be given no less than 5 minutes to reply to the debate.

Online Safety and Media Regulation Bill 2022 - Report and Final Stages.

The proceedings on the Report and Final Stages of the Online Safety and Media Regulation Bill 2022 shall be taken on the conclusion of the proceedings on the Communications (Retention of Data) (Amendment) Bill 2022 [Dáil], and shall, if not previously concluded, be adjourned after 4 hours.

(2) The Seanad on its rising on Monday, 11th July, 2022, shall adjourn until 10 a.m. on Tuesday, 12th July, 2022, and the following arrangements shall apply:
(a) Commencement matters shall be taken at 10 a.m. and up to six matters may be selected by the Cathaoirleach for discussion;

(b) Standing Order 30 shall stand suspended;

(c) The Order of Business shall be proposed at 11.30 a.m.
(3) The Seanad on its rising on Tuesday, 12th July, 2022, shall adjourn until 10 a.m. on Wednesday, 13th July, 2022, and the following arrangements shall apply:
(a) Commencement matters shall be taken at 10 a.m. and up to six matters may be selected by the Cathaoirleach for discussion;

(b) Standing Order 30 shall stand suspended;

(c) The Order of Business shall be proposed at 11.30 a.m."
