I move recommendation No. 11:

“Report on distributional impact of increases in the carbon tax from 2021 to 2030

37. The Minister shall, within six months of the passing of this Act, prepare and lay before both Houses of the Oireachtas a report on the distributional impact of changes made to the carbon tax from 2021 to 2030 through sections 26, 27and 28of the Finance Act 2020.”.

This really flows on quite nicely because concerns have been expressed across all sides of the Chamber on how potentially unfair this carbon tax could be. What we are requesting here is, simply, a report that within six months of the passing of this Act, the Minister will prepare and lay before the Houses of the Oireachtas a report on the distributional impact of the changes made to the carbon tax from 2021 to 2030. Who could possibly object to a report, given the concerns that everyone has expressed? I hope the Minister of State will engage with this because it is a reasonable request.
