It is a very large number. It is projected that we need 250,000 new homes in the coming years. A large number of those houses could be built using timber. The issue I want to address is our allowing allow office complexes, schools or taller buildings to be built using a timber frame. My understanding is that the current regulations prohibit buildings that extend to a certain number of storeys from being built using a timber frame. Everything about building commends itself to a re-evaluation in the context of the climate change agenda and better building methods.
