Clerk of the Seanad:

I have to inform the House that both the Cathaoirleach and the Leas-Chathaoirleach are absent from this meeting of the Seanad. Pursuant to Standing Order 12, it will be necessary, therefore, to elect a Member to perform the duties devolving on and exercise the authority conferred on the Cathaoirleach by Standing Orders for the period of absence of both the Cathaoirleach and the Leas-Chathaoirleach. I will take proposals for the election of an Acting Chairman.
