I propose that we resume our consideration of the Residential Tenancies (Amendment) (No. 2) Bill following our debate on the Wildlife (Amendment) Bill, with a view to concluding it this evening. We can leave the end time open if Senators are amenable. We get a great deal of criticism for not putting adequate measures in place to sort out the housing crisis but are also criticised for trying to deal with it urgently. I appeal to colleagues to recognise the urgency of this legislation. It is for Senator Craughwell to decide how to proceed regarding his amendment to the Order of Business.

The Senator referred to councillors' pay and conditions. Local authority members may be distracted right now with the elections coming up, so a debate might make more sense once the new councillors are in office.
