I move amendment No. 96c:

In page 32, between lines 17 and 18, to insert the following:“Vacancies in the Superior Courts
49.(1) Notwithstanding any other provision of this Act, where the Government decides to advise the President to appoint any serving judge who is a member of any of the Superior Courts to any vacancy arising in those Courts, the Minister shall notify the Commission of that decision and the Commission shall have no further function in relation to that appointment.

(2) Where the Government has decided to advise the President to make an appointment in accordance with subsection (1), the notice published in Iris Oifigúil in accordance with section 48 shall state solely that the person appointed was a serving judge of the relevant court at the time of his or her appointment.

(3) In this section, the term “Superior Courts” means the High Court, the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court.".
