During the early stages of the drafting of the Bill, officials in my Department had extensive engagement with the Data Protection Commission. My office took the view that it would not be appropriate for it to have a role in scrutinising at that point. I have no difficulty accepting amendment No. 26. I draw attention to section 60(2), which states that the Minister shall cause copies of the documents received by him or under subsection (1) to be laid before each House of the Oireachtas and to be sent to the board. It is already catered for, but I do not see a difficulty in accepting the amendment as it is proposed.
