Data Sharing and Governance Bill 2018: Report and Final Stages

I am accepting amendment No. 8 in the names of Senators Higgins and Ruane because it strengthens the language after the word "identity".Similarly with amendment No. 9, where the Senators have drawn attention to Article 9 of the GDPR, it strengthens the language and I am prepared to accept it.

To go back to some of the commentary on section 22, the main issue, which the Senators will appreciate, is we do not want in any way to compromise the independence of the data commissioner. I know this is not what is intended but it would have that unintended consequence.

I am happy to accept amendments Nos. 8 and 9.
