Post Office Closures: Motion

Some post offices are not viable and could never be kept open but hopefully some will be kept open following the appeals process. As Senator O'Reilly said, that process should be open and transparent. Senator Mac Lochlainn was also right about the gargantuan hypocrisy of the people on the benches opposite. I know that some of us swear by Kickham's maxim about having pride in the local village but some of the contributions from Fianna Fáil were surprising from a party which closed 102 post offices in one calendar year, that is, 2002. In 2003 it closed 193.
