Recognition of Irish Sign Language for the Deaf Community Bill 2016: Committee Stage

For the information of Members, according to a note for the Chair, amendment No. 4 in the name of Senator Mark Daly seeks to require the State to recognise ISL and to provide users of public bodies with free interpretation when accessing services. The provision of free interpretation would have the effect of imposing a charge upon the Revenue and, therefore, in accordance with Standing Order 41, the amendment cannot be moved save by way of a Government amendment.
