As a Parliament, all Members have failed in this session by not having abolished direct provision. Many people have worked in many ways to do that and I do not know where is the stumbling block. I believe the Minister of State wished to reform the system but was stymied in some way. I do not know whether this is because of the Minister of State's partners in government, whether it is for reasons within the Department or whatever but it certainly is an issue that will not go away. I believe it will be our Magdalen laundry in the future and it is a scandal that we are not living up to the international human rights of the people in direct provision and we still have a great deal of work to do in that regard.
