I also extend every good wish to Senator Jimmy Harte in his retirement. He has been an amazing contributor to Irish public life, both on Donegal County Council and latterly in Seanad Éireann, following in the footsteps of his illustrious father, Paddy Harte. I am sure the Harte family will continue to be at the centre of Irish political life in the future.

I welcome today's Private Members' motion on the current situation in Northern Ireland. In that context I wish to condemn in the strongest possible terms the outrageous comments by a Donaghmede Sinn Féin councillor that those who run Irish rugby had an inferiority complex.
