I also raise the issue of lead pipe contamination. Thousands of cases are coming to light, including 84 such cases in Galway. As Irish Water's work continues I am sure more will be discovered.

I am pleased the Government has committed to assist those in financial need to carry out remedial work.I also call on the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government to come to the House because it is important we get clarification on how we are going to deal with lead pipe contamination and what exact measures the Government intends to put in place to deal with the serious health issue for children, the elderly with underlying health issues and pregnant women. The health implications are significant and we need the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government to come to the House to debate the matter.
