Children and Family Relationships Bill 2015: Committee Stage
10:30 am
Fidelma Healy Eames (Fine Gael) | Oireachtas source
There is sense to this amendment. I have anecdotal evidence of two cases of preventable deaths had the information been provided at an early stage. Could the information be communicated to the parents? It should not be communicated to the child. We do not want to shock a child, but we should inform parents in order that they can act and intervene where appropriate. We all know that inherited genetic illnesses can be missed until it is too late to do anything about them. Therefore, I support this amendment.
