I raise the issue of water charges and Irish Water. Over recent days, we found out that very important meetings took place between very senior Irish Water staff and the then Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government, Deputy Phil Hogan, at which no minutes were taken, which seems incredible given the major issues that were being discussed. Sinn Féin has called for an Oireachtas inquiry into the fact that these minutes were not taken. For many people, Irish Water has become synonymous with everything that is wrong with the Government. It has involved cronyism, political manipulation of State boards and threats against people who cannot afford to pay. It is another charge and tax on struggling families. Over the weekend, we heard that there were no records or minutes of a meeting that took place between the former Minister and the chairman of Bord Gáis, at which very important issues were discussed.
