Vehicle Clamping Bill 2014: Second Stage
5:55 pm
David Norris (Independent) | Oireachtas source
No, North Great George's Street had that record on numerous occasions. It may vary between that and Parnell Street but I doubt very much that what Senator Paschal Mooney says is accurate because there is no parking on Parnell Street. I have seen some people speak to the Garda there. North Great George's Street is clamped all the time because it is on the direct rat run for the clamping vehicles back to their depot. I have seen country cars clamped there at 11.55 p.m. on a Saturday, five minutes to midnight, during the Christmas shopping rush. That is the kind of thing that creates antagonism to clamping. When clamping was first introduced I was all in support of it and used to sing "clamp, clamp, clamp, the boys are marching...".
