This goes to the heart of the question asked by Senator Feargal Quinn. He asked a very good question which I remember well. It involved the opinion poll legislation, which he referred to, which was picked up by the Seanad at the time. It was an Opposition amendment which had been proposed by Deputy Olivia Mitchell where she argued in the run-up to the 2002 elections that limitations should be put on the publication of opinion polls. The Government said it would accept the Opposition amendment - it had not thought it through - and it was picked up in this House.
