I echo the sentiments that have been expressed. I welcome the Minister and thank him for putting forward this amendment, which incorporates the amendment tabled by Senator Bacik and me. It is important to ensure there is gender balance from the local authorities. This issue is reflected everywhere. In the case of teaching, 72% of teachers are women but when one looks at the top, one finds that the majority of principals are men. This is a huge step and I thank the Minister.
