On the one hand, there was an exuberant element in society that spent money like it was going out of fashion on champagne, wine and the addition of a million here or there to a sale. On the other hand, families are being run out of their homes because they are ¤15,000 or ¤20,000 in arrears. We must get real as a society. Everyone who has a role to play should push for a State banking inquiry headed by a High Court judge. The truth must come out. I commend the journalists who worked tirelessly to expose the rot that took place in this country in the past 20 years.
