Criminal Justice (Spent Convictions) Bill 2012: Committee Stage
Government amendment No. 22: In page 8, between lines 33 and 34, to insert the following subsection:?(4) Where, in any proceedings before a court, a person is convicted of more than one offence (irrespective of whether those offences were committed on different dates) and the court, in passing sentence, imposes on that day, more than one relevant sentence in respect of those offences?(a) the relevant sentences imposed shall, for the purposes of this Act, be regarded as being in respect of a single conviction, and (b) where the relevant periods that apply to those sentences differ, the relevant period that applies to the conviction shall be the longer or longest, as the case may be, of those periods.?.
