Credit Union Bill 2012 : Committee Stage

Yes. I do not propose to move amendment No. 43. Based on the Minister of State's response, I will have a look at amendment No. 27 to which he referred earlier. The whole purpose of amendments Nos. 43 and 115 concerns the need for some kind of safety mechanism to be built into the legislation for those cases where credit unions and boards find themselves unable to meet the requirements that are set out in the Bill and need to apply for a waiver in exceptional circumstances. Such a safety mechanism will obviously have to meet with the approval of the registrar of credit unions and the Central Bank.

Based on the Minister of State's comments, I do not intend to press these amendments but I will give consideration to his amendment before Report Stage.
