I congratulate my colleagues for bringing forward this amendment and thank the Minister for taking the proposal on board. As has been pointed out, there are many people going to the United Kingdom in what has been referred to as bankruptcy tourism. I am aware that there are moves afoot in England to extend the term and perhaps that is what is motivating the Minister in that regard. It does not seem fair or equitable that those who can afford bankruptcy tourism can avail of it in England and those who cannot afford it are stuck with a system which, unless we change it along the lines suggested by Senators Crown and Barrett, could see them kept in a state of limbo by the banks for a lot longer than the three years being proposed.
