I welcome the announcement by the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Deputy Leo Varadkar, yesterday of the retention of the Coast Guard stations at Valentia and Malin. They have rendered sterling service to the State over the years.

It is significant that AIB conducted a bond issue yesterday of ¤500 million - we are aware of the one by Bank of Ireland - which was four times over-subscribed.
