If something is part of the culture then it is accepted. One of the most shocking things I learned recently was from the child deaths report. A total of 196 children died in care in the past ten years, and 68 of them died in their own homes. They were in and out of care. The single biggest influencing factor in the home was alcohol abuse by parents. Senator Noone related that alcohol is a contributory factor in 50% of suicides. It is also contributing to child deaths.
