Ned O'Sullivan (Fianna Fail)

I am asking for the Minister for Justice and Equality, Deputy Shatter, to come before the House to discuss the rampaging crime we are witnessing day in, day out. I seek assurance from the Minister that the presence of the Garda in rural places will be protected. It is not all about drink. The emphasis so far has been on drink and, certainly, it is a significant factor, but drug abuse is ten times worse and more at the root of the problem. One can drink so much but somehow manage to behave oneself, but if one takes those drugs - people are prepared to pay any price for them and price is not a factor-----
